abstract = "Although the majority of phytophysiognomies are found in
well-drained soils, we can also find other vegetation types in wet
areas of Cerrado biome. Besides the ecological importance of such
areas, there are few studies and database regarding their
location, extension and other basic characteristics. In this
study, multispectral and multitemporal data from varying satellite
sensors were analyzed in order to delineate humid areas in the
Cerrado. The study was based on an humid area located in the
experimental farm of the Brasilia University, i.e., the Agua Limpa
Farm. The contourn line obtained in the field with a GPS receiver
was used as ground truth. Results showed the potential of
multitemporal and high spatial resolution satellite data for
discriminating small-size humid areas in the Cerrado. However,
their use for the entire Cerrado may have limitations because of
the extension of the Cerrado (~ 204.7 million hectares) and
because of the cloud and smoke cover during both wet and dry
                         seasons.",
